GLC Summit ‘21

The event

Accenture’s Global Leadership Council (GLC) hadn’t met since 2018 due to the COVID pandemic. Finally in 2021 it was decided to host a virtual summit for the 700+ group in order to motivate, energize, and to share valuable lessons across teams. The world had yet to open up in 2021. The urgent scramble for businesses to adapt to a lockdown world was past and Accenture had made innovating from our home offices a thing of routine. But, like the rest of the world, we were experiencing demotivation, depression, and grief.

The GLC’s organizing team wanted to use 2021’s summit to acknowledge the hardships we had gone through while celebrating our hard work and inspiring leadership to look to the future with hope. They also wanted to dance.

We came up with One Rising.

The concept

“The One Rising summit is about embracing tomorrow with a sense of celebration, drawing bold lines into the future and welcoming the unexpected with confidence and a sense of joy.

We’re at the ready, bursting with enthusiasm and possibility, fueled by a dynamic, unified commitment to delivering 360 Value and the transformations that will empower us to rise and define the world of tomorrow—and the day after that.”

The visuals utilize Accenture’s brand gradients and transforms them into an amorphous nebula made of light. The nebula gives the constant impression of change and upward movement. Lines that echo its shape move throughout the space of the composition providing energy and depth.

In order to lift the spirits of the attendees throughout the programming, our team had fun putting together an international playlist of uplifting and danceable music that attendees were encouraged to put on between talks.

The three-day event culminated in a concert from John Legend who also donated merch for a silent auction that was held over the three days. The funds raised went to a John Legend supported fundraiser for children

Guidelines

The theme of One Rising was a huge success. I was proud of the work, but because Accenture tends to start from scratch when designing for each event, I was surprised when I was asked to build out a set of guidelines so future GLC events could use them as a starting point. In them I outlined how the nebula was built, my philosophy for its use and plenty of use cases to inspire future creative teams.
